We offer in-person service for most repairs. We can also complete the repair at the location of your choice (charges apply), or get in touch for more information about mail-in repairs.
To book a repair please send an email to info@yyc.repair or a text message to 403-402-2202. In some circumstances, there can be an assessment fee which can be applied toward the cost of a repair.
Services offered for computer repair include screen replacement, battery replacement, storage/memory upgrades, CPU upgrades, water damage assessment, and more.
We also offer macOS upgrade services for some out of date macs, allowing your beloved computer to live on, instead of a brand new $2000 purchase.
iMac
Older models are more easily serviceable than newer models. Anything pre-2010 is quite simple. Newer iMacs vary based on year. iMac G3 and G4 are both unique and parts are hard to find, but trained professionals can repair most aspects of them. iMac G5s typically need re-capping for long term use.
Mac Mini
2005-2009 are significantly upgradeable, with most models allowing for CPU upgrades.
2010-2012 models are upgradeable, but require special tools and some specialty parts.
2014 models have replaceable hard drives, but RAM is soldered in place and not upgradeable.
Newer models vary.
MacBook
2006-2008 require time but are upgradeable. The OS is limited to 10.7.5, but they are the last base MacBook with FireWire 400.
2009-2010 models are easily serviceable and cost-effective laptops, even by today’s standards.
2015-2017 12-inch models are not easily serviceable.
MacBook Pro
2006-2008 models take time to service but are upgradeable. They are limited to OS X 10.7.5.
2008-2012 models are Unibody – Easily serviceable and fully upgradeable, with available mods.
2012-2015 models have soldered RAM, but upgradeable SSDs. Screen repairs are very expensive.

MacBook Air
2008-2009 models take specialty parts and require special training. RAM is not upgradeable.
2010-2017 models are relatively easy to source parts for. RAM is not upgradeable.
2018-2020 models can be pricey but parts are readily available.
2020-onwards models are expensive and some parts are serialized. Contact us for more info.
Mac Pro/Power Mac
PowerPC macs (Power Macs) are hard to source some parts for, but easy to work on.
Mac Pros (Intel & Apple silicon) are designed to be professional and upgradeable. Get in touch for more info about the upgrades offered for various models.
PowerBook
PowerBooks are excellent collectible machines. They require skill to work on, but are fairly easy to fix. Contact us for more info based on your specific model – the G3 and G4 machines are most common.
iBook
iBook G3 Clamshell: Requires specialty tools and skills to work on, parts are rare and pricey.
iBook G3 (Snow): A variety of models are available – get in touch for info on each.
iBook G4: Repairs are time consuming but not too difficult.
Legacy Macintosh
Get in touch with more info! They are worth saving, but repairs and upgrades vary largely based on the model.
We offer repair services for all models, but especially cater to older devices. With training that extends to devices of all ages, we can get your old Mac working again, with reliable replacement parts.
Payment info:
Acceptable forms of payment include Cash, Visa, Mastercard, Debit, and e-transfer.
We do not take credit cards over the phone, or any form of cheque.
We do not release devices without payment. If work has been performed with an agreed upon price, the device will be held until payment is made. After 60 days of non-payment with no agreed resolution, the device will be sold or donated to recoup costs.
